This section hosts some of my future projects... ofc I keep some secret for now :)

Interviews

Few months ago, I wrote a sort of personal journal called “ Sacha’s News” where I was describing my daily discoveries in engineering and sciences. Among the dozens article, I discovered two organisations:

The first one is a company called Ocean Infinity and it’s a company that is developing and producing fully automated vessels. I found this technology both very impressive and questionable because I still don’t fully understand why we would need such things given the price tag and the legislation needed behind this type of project. However, I’m curious to discover more about it and about the technology around their product

The second one is not a company, it’s a research center in France that is developing a type of DNA computer storage solution to the lingering global issue of cold data. For those who don’t know, cold data represents around 60% of global data on servers all around the world and is defined as data that is very rarely, sometimes not at all, consulted. The problem here is that this data is often kept for “nothing”, using a lot of data center storage while wasting so much energy in order to cool down the computers. This problem could be solved using DNA storage which is a technique that would help scientists encode data into artificial DNAs. Because DNA doesn’t require anything to sustain itself, all of the cold data on earth could be stored into one little place using DNA without even having to waste energy.

For both of them, I’d really like to have an interview with the company and researchers in order to know more about the technology behind their innovations and present my work to my school/class!

Leading a science group in high school demonstrating sonoluminescence effect

One day I watched a Youtube video about sonoluminescence, which is a rare physical phenomenon that occurs when an air bubble is trapped into a liquid and sound waves are sent. The bible starts mysteriously to collapse on itself, emitting a strong light flash and scientists even believe that at the core of the bubble, a beginning of nuclear fusion could possibly appear. If true, this would be an international headline as nuclear fusion is a type of energy we’re still trying to control.

Therefore, I’d like to reproduce this video at my school lab. Given the challenges the person on the video encountered when trying to demonstrate this phenomenon, my project would probably take some time and I’d like to do it with other classmates that could assist me. I wanted to do it this year but turns out I really didn’t have the opportunity and time to make it so… maybe next year!

Library consultant

I often go to the library next to my house in order to work and do my homeworks without any distractions. But I noticed that this library often welcomes hundreds of high schoolers and yet, they don’t develop the right facilities and activities for them.

When I noticed that, I thought “ Why wouldn't I help them ?”. I contacted the head of the library telling him I’d like to do some volunteering at the library. Unfortunately, he told me they were not allowed to do so but when they renovate the building, they will contact me as a consultant in order to help them organise new spaces for tennagers and high schoolers so they feel comfortable in a place that welcomes them as they are.

Not gonna lie, I’m very excited to take part in this beautiful project!
